As we know our Language defines the concept, scope and limitations of our thoughts.
Thoughts define and create our emotions. Emotions create our behaviors.
Repeat.
Thus so the itself eating snake, our life, defines itself.
I am non-lingual in three, four, five languages.
My conduct, passive and active of those languages is not sufficient:
Hebrew, Dutch, English, the language of Images, the language of Sounds.
When I think about the concept of Devotion, I think the English word: Devotion, which, as I have just learned, comes from Latin.
In my mother tongue, Hebrew, I cannot find the exact parallel concept. That is the way it works with translations. When translating I actually get to know and feel the whole scope of the to be translated word, all its aspects and connotations, implications, associations, dreams and wishes.
Google helps again: in Hebrew the first suggestion is Mesirut.
My own first suggestion, which sprang to my mind and lips, even though I knew it was not correct was Hitmasrut, which implies gives oneself up, surrender one's soul. And here again, losing meaning, gaining other meanings.
